Not only is there a new set of celebrities taking to the ballroom this year, there are also four new professional dancers who will be putting on their expert dancing shoes when Strictly Come Dancing returns.
It's felt like a long time coming but the countdown to Christmas will officially begin tonight with the return of the all-sparkling Strictly Come Dancing. And the brand new group of celebrities have officially undergone their glitzy and glam makeovers ahead of the 2022 series.
Strictly Come Dancing star Motsi Mabuse will return to the new series alongside fellow judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood. The 41-year-old joined the panel back in 2019 and watched her younger sister Oti Mabuse, 32, win the Glitterball trophy for the first time with celebrity partner Kelvin Fletcher. The following year, the unstoppable professional dancer won the show for a second time with comedian Bill Bailey. After the most recent series, where she danced with Ugo Monye, Oti announced she will be leaving the show after seven years. When asked about her sister's exit from the show, Motsi told Prima Magazine: “I’ll be sad not to see her on Strictly this year."I’ll always worry about my sister, but I have to respect her decision and let her go.'Terrible when you get caught out!' Karren Brady mocks Meghan Markle"She’s proven that she can more than protect herself and push herself to new heights."Meanwhile, I’ll continue to fly the Mabuse flag on Strictly for as long as they want me.”Oti previously revealed that she "cried for hours" when she told bosses she wouldn't be returning to the show this year.Speaking to You Magazine, she added: "When I came to Britain I said to myself, ’My dream is to win Strictly.′ And I have, and it was such an amazing seven years, but I’ve done what I needed to do. I feel so emotional."I lived my best life on that show and it gave me the career I have now, but you need to know when it’s the right time to get off that wave and try new things.”Oti isn't the only professional who won't be returning to the upcoming series.Back in March, Aljaz Skorjanec announced he had quit after nine years of showcasing his moves. His departure came a year after his wife Janette Manrara moved
Anton Du Beke, 56, took over from Bruno Tonioli, 66, on last year's Strictly Come Dancing amid Covid restrictions, with Bruno being unable to travel to the UK from the US, where he was a judge on Dancing with the Stars, due to flight restrictions. Ahead of this year's series, Anton's permanent position on the judging panel was announced, with the dancer admitting that he "hasn't spoken" to Bruno since the replacement news.Bruno had been a staple on the Strictly judging panel since 2004 but had to take a break from the show due to the coronavirus outbreak.Anton filled in last year as a judge, becoming a massive hit with viewers, with many calling for his permanent seat on the judging panel.Fans' prayers were answered when it was announced earlier this year that Anton would be permanently sitting on the judging panel. However, in a recent interview, Anton admitted that he "hasn't spoken" to Bruno since his new position was announced. He said: "I haven't spoken to him, I haven't spoken to any of the judges."It was all down to circumstance really, the situation with flying still isn't ideal — we all know how many flights are being cancelled — and Bruno said to the BBC, 'Listen, I can't do both shows, thank you very much and good luck'", Anton told The Sun.Bruno opened up about his reasons for stepping down from the role close to the time his departure was announced. He admitted: "There is no animosity, it was a mutual decision with both of us saying, ‘Listen, this is not going to work like it used to."I just couldn’t do the flying anymore.
Dianne Buswell has admitted she “missed” Anton Du Beke after he left the professional line-up of Strictly Come Dancing last year. However, the star added that she “absolutely loved” the way he had embraced his new role as a judge on the show in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk. Dianne, 33, has been busy this year, filming in sub-zero temperatures for ITV’s Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof and, most recently, teaming up with Sure to set a new Guinness world record for furthest distance danced by a couple with dance pro Pasquale La Rocca. However, with Strictly Come Dancing 2022 coming this autumn, Dianne shared her thoughts on what it was like watching Anton, 55, leave the show's roster of professional dancers after so many years. The decision to make Anton a full time judge follows his successful debut as a judge last year, while he was filling in for Bruno Tonioli, who has now left the show. Anton has finally given up dancing on the show once and for all this year after staying with Strictly since it began in 2004. “I adore Anton.
Anton Du Beke’s wife Hannah Summers has previously been mistaken for a member of the Royal Family. The surprising comparison between the Strictly Come Dancing judge’s wife and the royal has been made a number of times on social media.Anton, 55, and Hannah, 46, keep their lives fairly private, and it is perhaps because of that reason that she is sometimes mixed up with a certain royal. As fans do know so little about the Strictly star’s wife, when she is photographed some confuse her with Sophie, Countess of Wessex. The Countess of Wessex is the wife of Prince Edward and bears a striking resemblance to businesswoman Hannah.Back in 2018, when Hannah appeared on Michael McIntyre's Big Show, one viewer tweeted: “I’m sure Anton du Beke’s wife is married to Prince Edward.” Another added: “Was tryna think who Anton’s wife looks like, then it come to me… “Prince Edward’s missus The Duchess of Wessex #DeadRinger.” (sic) A third agreed, commenting: “Anton du Beke's wife looks like royalty!!”Anton married wife Hannah back in 2017, and the couple share two children together. The star has been a dancer on Strictly for many years, but began his career as a judge on the show last year.Anton is also set to return to the judging panel once more again this year, after he proved a popular choice with the public and his fellow cast members. Outside of his busy career, Anton enjoys spending time at home in Buckinghamshire with his wife Hannah and their adorable twins.Anton met his wife in 2010 when they were attending a dinner as members of the local golf club.Hannah is a successful business woman and Chief Marketing Officer at leading mobile network security company AdaptiveMobile. The pair got married in secret five years ago and welcomed
Bruno Tonioli has explained his reasons for leaving Strictly Come Dancing behind as the BBC show judge spoke out on the news fellow dancer Anton Du Beke will be replacing him permanently. Along with Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno is one of the original pros who sat on the panel for every season until 2020, when the panel was one down. Anton, 55, then took over the 2021 season while the Italian star was working in America and earlier this week it was confirmed that the pro dancer would remain as a judge for good. And now after 18 years on the hugely-popular dance competition, Bruno, 66, admitted he finds the travel too tough.
