Ashley Thomas has been cast as the male lead opposite Mia Isaac and Adrienne Warren in Hulu drama series Black Cake, from Women of the Movement creator Marissa Jo Cerar, Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Films and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment.  Additionally, Zetna Fuentes (This Is Us) has been tapped to direct the pilot episode, replacing Andrew Dosunmu.

Amazon series, Marked Man.Duke is best known for his roles in Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Jordan Peele’s Us (2019).Jesse Williams (Little Fires Everywhere) and DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It) are also reported to be joining the cast, while Andrew Dosunmu and Kwame Kwei-Armah in place as director and screenwriter respectively, according to Deadline.

Garvey was a political activist who was a key figure of Black nationalism in the 20th Century. Andrew Dosunmu will direct the drama and Jesse Williams (Little Fires Everywhere) and DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It) are in talks to star.
