Samantha Giles has predicted great things for her Emmerdale co-star Paige Sandhu, who recently bowed out as serial killer Meena. Speaking exclusively to OK!, Samatha , 50, hailed Paige, 25, as a “great actress” and a “lovely girl” who will go on to greatness. Paige’s character Meena exited the show when she was sentenced to 75 years in prison for murder, leading to the actress sharing an emotional goodbye message to fans who were gripped by the storyline.
Samantha shared viewers’ intrigue in the story and was full of praise for how Paige played the part. She said: “When people know who the baddie is they’re desperate for it to get resolved and for them to get their comeuppance. “I think it’s been a brilliant story and I think it’s gone down really well," she added. “It’s going to be sad that she’s gone because she’s a lovely girl and a great actress but I think she’s going to go on to big things.” Meena’s victims included Nadine Butler, Leanna Cavanagh, Andrea Tate and Ben Tucker. Paige joined Emmerdale in 2020, after facing a battle against anxiety while struggling for work as a budding actress.
Asked about what fans can expect to see in Emmerdale in the coming weeks, Samantha offered a few clues but revealed that she often struggles to get time to watch the show due to her busy schedule. She said: “There’s a few things going on for Denise, a bit of comedy. I don’t watch the show very often, I don’t get a chance to watch it.” In March, Samantha was seen on a trip to hospital which caused worry among fans.
