Ahead of the Jan. 20 inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the 59th Presidential Inaugural Committee hosted a virtual welcome event on Saturday to honor America’s history and the incoming administration.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is calling on the LGBTQ community to participate in several planned virtual inaugural events that reflect the theme of “America United,” an inaugural official told LGBTQ representatives at a Jan. 12 online briefing.

The Biden/Harris Presidential Inaugural Committee announced additional programming in advance of the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on January 20. The theme of the now five consecutive nights of events is “America United.”

America United [the recently-announced theme of the celebration],” said Tony Allen, CEO of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, in a statement. The 90-minute patriotic program, dubbed “Celebrating America,” will feature segments and performances highlighting “the strength of our democracy, the perseverance of our people, and our ability to come together during trying times and emerge stronger than ever before,” according to a press release.
