Set during the late ‘60s, the project examines this tumultuous period from a female perspective.

Palm Royale‘s Kristen Wiig, Josh Lucas, director Tate Taylor and writer and showrunner Abe Sylvia joined Deadline’s Contenders TV event Sunday to talk about the likability of the characters, some of the tough topics they’ve tackled and how the Palm Beach setting helped amplify the comedy of the show.

Carol Burnett has enjoyed a seven-decade career in show business, breaking barriers for women in comedy and staying active as ever at 90 years of age. She stars on "Palm Royale" on AppleTV+ alongside Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney and Laura Dern. Despite her talent, her legendary career may not have happened without a few lucky breaks she gratefully acknowledges.

Katcy Stephan Allison Janney is joining the cast of Amazon MGM Studios’ “A Simple Favor 2.” The actor will join returning cast members Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick in the sequel to Paul Feig’s hit 2018 mystery-comedy film. The sequel will follow Stephanie (Kendrick) and Emily (Lively) as they head to the beautiful island of Capri for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman.

Ricky Martin is making his acting comeback in “Palm Royale,” now streaming on Apple TV. The series, produced and starring Kristen Wiig, follows Maxine Simmons (Wiig), a woman who tries to break into Palm Royale’s elite. Martin plays Robert Diaz, a bartender and caretaker who lives in the pool house.

Jaden Thompson On a recent Thursday night in Beverly Hills, the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre transformed into 1960s Palm Beach for the premiere of the Apple TV+ series “Palm Royale,” which stars Kristen Wiig as Maxine, a relentless social climber desperate to fit into high society. The mid-century themed pink carpet featured a Tanqueray bar, gold chandeliers, plenty of lush Florida greenery, and staff wearing special Palm Royale polos, in a nod to the elite country club where the show unfolds.

How is it possible that Apple TV’s high-budget “Palm Royale” doesn’t work? With this insanely talented cast and trendy concept, it should be a slam dunk, right? The main reason it’s not is a depressingly common one in today’s TV and streaming landscape: It’s the wrong length. Like so many recent projects, it wears out its welcome with narrative diversions that don’t work and subplots that sag in the middle of the season to the point where it becomes impossible to care.

Palm Royale since I first watched an advanced screener of the Apple TV+ series last fall, so I'm thrilled it's for you to see (only a few more days, as it premieres this Wednesday, March 20).The cast alone is worth signing up for Apple TV+ if you don't already subscribe. Janney will appear in a guest starring role of the political thriller series, playing Vice President Grace Penn. She joins series lead Keri Russell, who stars as the titular diplomat Kate Wyler.

The West Wing star Mary McCormack has revealed that a “very special” announcement about the show will be made next Wednesday, January 24.McCormack played Deputy National Security Adviser Kate Harper on the Emmy-winning political drama, which ran on NBC from 1999 to 2006.On her Instagram account, McCormack wrote: “Calling all #Wingnuts! West Wing fans – we have something very special in the works that we’ll be sharing with you next week, so stay tuned here for our big reveal on Jan. 24th.

Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence and Rami Malek all signed a June letter telling union leadership they were prepared to strike, but none of them have surfaced holding signs or chanting at studio gates. Leonardo DiCaprio posted an Instagram story saying he stood “in solidarity with my guild,” but has yet to stand for any in-person protest.
