Michael Fassbender finds himself in the thick of a manhunt in the new trailer for David Fincher‘s The Killer!

David Fincher‘s The Killer hits select cinemas today (October 27), before it streams on Netflix from November 10, and comes with a huge soundtrack.The film – as with many Fincher movies including The Social Network, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl and Mank – features a score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross as well as a host of songs including many by The Smiths.Discussing the prominence of The Smiths on the soundtrack, Fincher said (via Indiewire): “The Smiths were a post-production addition because I knew I wanted to use ‘How Soon is Now?’ and I love the idea of that song specifically as a tool for assuaging his anxiety. I liked it as a meditation tape, I thought it was amusing and funny.”He added: “I don’t think that there’s a library of music by recording artists that have as much sardonic nature and wit simultaneously [as the Smiths].

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who during their day job are the minds behind Nine Inch Nails, have announced they’ll be reteaming with director David Fincher for this fall’s “The Killer.” This is their fifth collaboration with Fincher after “The Social Network,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “Gone Girl,” and “Mank.”“The Killer” is currently cloaked in secrecy (this is a David Fincher project, after all), but it is based on the French comic book series by Alexis Nolent (aka Matz). The project stars Michael Fassbender as the title character (his first role since 2019’s regrettable X-Men romp “Dark Phoenix”) along with Charles Parnell, Tilda Swinton, Arliss Howard and Sophie Charlotte in supporting roles.

Following his critically acclaim work directing Mank, David Fincher looks to have found his next project returning to a genre he knows well. Sources tell Deadline Fincher is currently developing an adaptation of the Alexis Nolent’s The Killer graphic novel series, re-teaming with Seven screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker, who will adapt. While unconfirmed, sources also say Michael Fassbender is in talks to star in the pic. Netflix would not comment on Fassbender’s involvement.
