A woman who has been left scarred for life ended up in hospital after a man threw a frying pan at her containing boiling oil. Obaid Mohammad, 18 at the time, from Kurdistan was sharing his accommodation with the woman when some issues arose between them while he was cooking, Liverpool Crown Court heard.

A person was rescued from a fire at a flat in Irlam on Monday evening after the blaze broke out in a kitchen. Emergency services raced to the scene of the fire at a block of apartments on Liverpool Road shortly before 8pm.
One casualty was taken to hospital for 'precautionary checks' and a further person was checked over at the scene by paramedics. Crews remained in attendance for a number of hours on Monday evening, as the Cheshire Fire Service were also called in to assist.
Onlookers described how the area became 'very smoky', with those living in the flats evacuated temporarily as the flames were dampened. Liverpool Road was closed off between Lord's Street and Fir Street, with police also at the scene.

The owner of the Zara takeaway also provided drinks to the emergency services and worried residents who had to evacuate their flats. He said: "There was a lot of emergency services at the scene, it was very smoky and lots of people were all stood outside.
"They were waiting for more than two hours - it looked like a big fire from one of the rooms on the ground floor. I went over to take people drinks outside because they were all stood in the road and couldn't go in but it looks like everybody is okay."
A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) spokesperson said: “At 7:52pm on Monday 26 September 2022, two fire engines from, Agecroft and Eccles fire stations attended a fire in a flat on Liverpool Road, Irlam. GMFRS crews are also being supported by colleagues from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
