Mentoring the celebs was none other than Team GB hero Tom Daley. Penny, who in 2011 was voted as Westminster's "sexiest MP", featured in heat three of the show's second series alongside comedian Patrick Monahan, singer Paul Young, model Danielle Lloyd and The Only Way Is Essex star Dan Osborne.
During the episode fronted by presenters Gabby Logan and Vernon Kay, Penny was the third celebrity to attempt their dive. Wearing a sparking red swimsuit, Penny tried to do a backward dive off the 7. 5-metre board.
However, things did not go to plan for the then 40-year-old as she hit the water with a bump as she belly flopped her effort. Her dive was greeted by some rather pained expressions by those watching from the pool side. However, Penny was still able to pull herself out of the water with just her pride dented.
Needless to say, her dive was not good enough to help her through to the next round as Dan and Danielle progressed ahead of her. Her effort was still good enough to finish third overall in the episode though. Penny received a lot of criticism for appearing on the show, with many saying she should have been focussing on her constituency work.
