Penny Lancaster carries out duties as police constable where Queen's coffin will arrive by plane

Penny Lancaster had "great training and preparation" to be part of the police detail on Monday for Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral. "With all that planning going ahead, you can never quite predict how the crowd is [going to] react and the dangers that might lay ahead," the British model and TV personality, who is married to Rod Stewart, told Sky News. "But we’ve had great training and preparation and fortunately, everybody paid their respects in the proper manner, and we didn’t have any incidents to speak of," the 51-year-old shared.

Penny Lancaster was spotted policing the Queen's funeral on the streets of central London today.

Penny Lancaster, the wife of rock singer Sir Rod Stewart, has taken to the streets of central London to police the Queen's funeral procession. Last year in April 2021, the 51 year old TV presenter and former model completed her training to become a special police constable for City of London Police. During the Queen's funeral on Monday 19 September, Penny was spotted making her way through busy crowds in the area surrounding Westminster and Buckingham Palace while wearing the red and white chequered sleeve and cap bands of the force.

Queen Elizabeth II's coffin has begun it's final journey to Windsor Castle. The coffin had been Lying-in-State in at Westminster Hall since last Thursday, but was taken in procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey on Monday morning, where Her Majesty's state funeral service took place.Following the funeral, the coffin traveled in procession from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch, and then to Windsor. Once there, the coffin was placed inside the State Hearse.

The Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama continued into the weekend as it wasn’t clear if the Sussexes would be attending a pre-funeral reception at Buckingham Palace on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.  The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who settled in California after stepping down as senior royals in 2020 – reportedly initially received an invitation to the Sunday evening reception, but conflicting reports said they were and weren’t expected to attend.  According to the Telegraph, they have now been uninvited because palace officials insisted that the reception hosted by King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, is only for working royals, which Harry and Meghan are not.
