‘Peacemaker’: John Cena To Star In ‘Suicide Squad’ Spinoff HBO Max Series From Writer-Director James Gunn

Amazon Studios has picked up the action movie Heads of State, to star Idris Elba and John Cena, from The Safran Company, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Harrison Query is penning the script and Peter Safran and John Rickard are producing.

Idris Elba and John Cena apparently had a good thing going in the upcoming “The Suicide Squad” sequel, because the two actors pitched an action film titled “Heads of State” over Zoom to studios and Amazon Studios just picked up the film.

The new show will go into production after Gunn finishes his work on The Suicide Squad and before he begins filming on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.

HBO Max announced on Wednesday that it has ordered a spinoff of the upcoming James Gunn film which features Cena, 43, as the “Peacemaker” from the pages of DC Comics supervillain team-up.The eight-episode series will skip shooting a pilot and proceed right to series production.
