Paul Scholes has made a funny joke about Robbie Savage after son Charlie put in a fantastic performance for Manchester United against Melbourne Victory on Friday.
The 19-year-old played the whole of the second half as the tourists ran out 4-1 winners over their hosts, the youngster spraying some pinpoint passes during his outing. Savage made his senior debut under Ralf Rangnick last season.
He came on as a substitute in United ’s Champions League group stage encounter with Young Boys alongside academy colleague Zidane Iqbal. The pair have been included in Erik ten Hag’s pre-season squad as they try to convince their new boss to include them in his plans.

Savage also featured in Monday’s 4-0 rout of Liverpool in Bangkok and earned plaudits for his slick display. His father, Robbie, came through the ranks at United but was never handed his senior debut.
After a long career at the likes of Blackburn and Derby County, Savage now works alongside Scholes as a pundit on BT Sport. And Scholes has taken the opportunity to aim a cheeky dig at his pal after Charlie’s promising summer.
Taking to his Instagram story, he said: “@charliesavage48 v Melbourne Victory. Clearly gets his passing from his mother!” alongside clapping and thumbs up emojis.
