Paul Mescal, 26, and girlfriend Phoebe Bridgers looked utterly loved-up as they were spotted sharing a sweet moment on the streets of Los Angeles earlier this week. The couple, who were reported to have gotten engaged in secret a while ago, couldn't stop smiling and giggling as they emerged from a yoga class in the city. Carrying yoga mats and dressed in casual long-sleeved tops and sports shorts, the couple wrapped their arms around each other for an impromptu kiss and a cuddle.
Unable to stop grinning, singer-songwriter Phoebe, 27, beamed with her blonde locks swept up in a black scrunchy. The couple then paid for parking and drove away. Paul and Phoebe have been dating for around two years, and while they've mostly kept their relationship out of the public eye, more recently the pair have made the headlines.
Reportedly spotted together at the famous Coachella music festival, which takes place in the sweltering the Californian desert, Phoebe was said to be heard referring to her actor beau as her "fiancé". The couple were joined by Paul's former co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones, 23, at the time. With his classic 1990s heartthrob looks, it was only a matter of time before Paul Mescal found his way into a film set in that era. Like “Normal People,” the series that catapulted the young Irish actor to fame, Charlotte Wells’ “Aftersun” has him wearing shorts, but this time with a belt and the polo shirt tucked in — a detail like many others in the film that should send a wave of recognition through audience members who grew up then.
Guy Lodge Film CriticIt’s not that we haven’t seen Emily Watson on screen recently — it just feels a long time since any film really made us look at her. Somehow knowing and guileless and haunted at once, her piercing, pale-eyed gaze made an immediate mark in film history with her debut in “Breaking the Waves” a quarter-century ago, but it’s been an underused natural resource of late: TV has been more generous, but the movies have confined her to stock mom-and-wife supporting roles for years.
CANNES – Despite the passage of time, very little has changed over the decades in the small Irish fishing village depicted in “God’s Creatures.” There is work. There is family.
