Paul McCartney pays tribute to late wife Linda's brother: ‘He was hard to beat’

The home of John Lennon’s mother, dubbed the House of Sin, is expected to sell for £250,000 at auction.

Liverpool played a significant role in both Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney’s musical development, the auction house said. The pair, who would become founding members of the Beatles, rehearsed at the semi-detached house with their bandmates in The Quarrymen without fear of noise complaints from Lennon’s mother Julia. Mrs Lennon lived in the home with her husband John “Bobby” Dykins from 1950 until her death in 1958, with the singer’s sisters Julia Baird and Jacqueline Dykins.

The Beatles producer Giles Martin has confirmed a deluxe boxset of the band’s 1966 album ‘Revolver’ is in the works.Previously ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’, ‘White Album, ‘Abbey Road’ and ‘Let It Be’ have all received the deluxe boxset treatment, with the records being remixed and remastered by Martin (the son of late Beatles producer George Martin) and released alongside outtakes, unreleased tracks and demos.Now Martin has confirmed that ‘Revolver’ will receive the same treatment, with the boxset set for release this autumn, via Apple Corps and Universal Music.I really hope you all like it….

Elvis Costello has unveiled details of a huge 10-night residency in New York next year.Costello revealed the plans for the residency while on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and said the gigs would feature a changing setlist.“I’m gonna play a 10-night stand in New York City next February,” Costello explained on the show.“But here’s the thing – I’m going to print a list of 10 songs a night that’s gonna give you a clue to what the night’s gonna be like. And the other 10 songs that I might play are a secret.”He went on to say that fans will “never hear the same song twice” and that the setlists would add up to “200 songs [played] over 10 nights.”He also revealed that for fans wanting to go to all 10 nights of the residency, a “special price” would be set.The residency will take place at Gramercy Theatre in February 2023.

John Lennon’s son Julian was shocked by his father being brought “back to life” during Sir Paul McCartney’s shows. Lennon has been digitally ‘resurrected’ using video and artificial intelligence to perform duets with Sir Paul, including one of the 1969 track ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’ at the singer’s Glastonbury headline slot this year. The stunt was masterminded by The Beatles documentary ‘Get Back’ filmmaker Peter Jackson, who used “machine learning technology” to isolate Lennon's vocals from old recordings and arrange them into a copy of a live performance.

The virtual reunion of two former Beatles was an odd experience for Julian Lennon.

Paul McCartney has paid tribute to his late brother-in-law and lawyer John Eastman following his death at the age of 83.  The Beatles star, 80, shared a photo of him and Eastman doing yoga poses together as he shared a touching message.  He wrote: ‘My dear brother-in-law, John Eastman, has passed away.
