A patient spent more than 600 days in one of the region’s hospitals despite being given the all-clear to go home. And more than 100 patients spent more than three weeks in hospital last year despite being deemed well enough to leave. The bed blocking data was released by the Scottish Liberal Democrats following Freedom of Information requests.Party leader, Alex Cole-Hamilton, said: “Delayed discharges have a huge impact on patients and their families.“Once you are declared fit to leave, there is nothing more disheartening than being forced to wait in a hospital as the days tick by.“Delayed discharges involve eye-watering sums of money for the NHS and in the majority of cases it is an entirely avoidable problem.“Most people are waiting on a care home place, social care support to enable them to live in their own home or for an assessment to be conducted.”A delayed discharge is when doctors have deemed a patient well enough to leave but they have to wait for outside assistance – such as social care or a place in a care home – to be put in place. The Lib Dems asked all 14 Scottish health boards for data on the matter for 2020/21.NHS Dumfries and Galloway had the highest average delay of the 12 health boards that responded, with patients spending on average 34.5 days in hospital after being given approval to leave.A total of 111 patients in the region spent more than three weeks in hospital unnecessarily. And in one case, a patient was kept in for a staggering 617 days after being given the all-clear to go home.A spokesman for the region’s health board said it had one of the lowest rates of delayed discharges as a share of population in the country. He said: “One of the key challenges impacting on the ability to discharge people

Filler-addicted woman who 'looked like blow up doll' is unrecognisable after removal
Skinfidelity in Mississauga, Canada, told Daily Star lip filler can be a useful tool to restore volume and help with minor asymmetry but warns it's possible to get hooked. The aesthetician has a large TikTok following on her @skinfidelity page where she explains how she fell into an obsession with filler that she has since had dissolved. In her most popular clip, Shelby shows how much her face changed when she started using filler in her 20s.She jokes she has "Simpson lip" and looks like a "blow-up doll", writing in the on-screen caption: "Watch my face get ugly from filler."The aesthetician reveals how she looks now after getting it dissolved and says she is starting to feel much more comfortable about her appearance.Since she uploaded it on TikTok on Sunday (January 16), the video has been watched more than 270,000 times and has received thousands of comments. One user said: "Thank you for sharing! I am so saddened every time I see pillow face.""Love this! The filler dysmorphia has clearly taken hold in the culture," said a second viewer.Shelby told Daily Star: "Filler dysmorphia happens when an individual gets lip filler and believes it to be gone when it is not or that their lips are always 'too small' even if they are way too big for the person’s face naturally."The individual continues to go back for more lip filler to achieve a look that is not stainable for their natural anatomy and ends up looking very bizarre."Shelby, master injector at Skinfidelity, says over-done lips can end up looking like a "breakfast sausage" and will lead to migration outside of the intended place of injection."Commonly this look for the top lip has been nicknamed 'filler moustache' and when both top and bottom lips are involved, 'duck

Tyson Fury warned Francis Ngannou hits harder than Deontay Wilder as bout considered
Tyson Fury withstood the punches of the most powerful heavyweight boxer in the world during his trilogy series with Deontay Wilder - but has been warned UFC champion Francis Ngannou would hit him harder. After stopping Wilder in the 11th round of their classic bout in Las Vegas last October, Fury is currently negotiating a WBC title defence with British rival Dillian Whyte.Ngannou meanwhile has also had his mind occupied by preparing for his heavyweight title defence with Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 270 in California on Saturday night. However, should both icons come through their respective clashes, then a historic meeting could be on the cards with the Cameroonian having declared his intent to switch codes and take on 'The Gypsy King'.Some pundits have questioned the boxing credentials of Ngannou, 35, but his manager Marquel Martin believes his man could adapt, and also subject Fury to bombs beyond what Wilder was capable of."Francis is dangerous for Fury because the best fighter to fight Fury to date is Deontay Wilder. Deontay isn't known for 'sweet science' - he's known for his devastating power," he told Sky Sports."With that power, he was able to successfully land some power shots that put Tyson on the canvas a few times."I acknowledge it's very difficult to hit Tyson.

Royal Family 'fear Prince Phillip memorial will turn into Harry and Meghan show', expert claims
Royal Family are concerned that Prince Phillip’s memorial will turn into the ‘Harry and Meghan Show’ if they attend, according to a royal expert. The Queen and family are preparing for a memorial event to honour the Duke of Edinburgh, who died in April of 2021.A Service of Thanksgiving is set to be held at Westminister Abbey later this year for the 99-year-old.The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are current undecided over whether they will return to the UK, according to the Sun.It comes after a huge security row where Prince Harry issued legal papers to the UK Government.According to reports, the 37-year-old is threatening to issue a judicial review of Home Secretary Priti Patel’s decision to strip him of his UK police protection tea.The Duke of Sussex claims it is too dangerous to travel to the UK with Meghan, 40, Archie, two, and seven-month-old Lilibet without armed guards. It is understood that the Sussex’s want to pay for the protection out of their own pocket, rather than taxpayers foot the bill. However, security sources hit back saying: “Scotland Yard is not available for hire” and “you can’t just hire the services of Scotland Yard as and when you feel like it.”As a result, it is unclear whether they intend to attend as a whole family, whether Harry will make the trip alone as he did for Prince Philip’s funeral last year, or if they will attend at all.But according to a royal insider, the rest of the Royals will ‘breathe a sigh of relief’ if Meghan and Harry street clear.Ingrid Seward said: "I think if they choose not to come then everyone will breathe a sigh of relief.“It is thanks-giving for Prince Philip and we don't want it turning into the Harry and Meghan show."
