Pamela Adlon, Rhys Wakefield Join ‘The First Lady’ at Showtime

Joe Otterson TV ReporterAaron Eckhart has signed on to play President Gerald Ford in the upcoming Showtime anthology series “The First Lady.”Formerly known as “First Ladies,” the show is described as a reframing of American leadership, told through the lens of the women at the heart of the White House. Eckhart joins previously announced series stars Viola Davis and Michelle Pfeiffer, who will play Michelle Obama and Betty Ford respectively.

Aaron Eckhart is set to co-star opposite Viola Davis and Michelle Pfeiffer in The First Lady (working title), Showtime’s anthology executive produced by Davis and directed and executive produced by Susanne Bier.

You have to hand it to Michelle Pfeiffer. First, because the woman seemingly hasn’t aged much at all over the past few decades, which mind-boggling and impressive.

Michelle Pfeiffer, a three-time Oscar nominee, is stepping into some iconic shoes. Showtime announced on Thursday that the 62-year-old actress will star as Betty Ford in its upcoming anthology series, The First Lady.Ford, who served as first lady from 1974 to 1977, set a precedent as a politically active presidential spouse through her candid nature and work in social policy.

Showtime has tapped Michelle Pfeiffer to star as Betty Ford in its upcoming anthology series, "The First Lady." Pfeiffer joins the previously announced Viola Davis (playing Michelle Obama) for the show, which focuses on the pair, along with Eleanor Roosevelt, and "the roles they played in shaping impactful and sometimes world-changing decisions during their time in the White House," according to The Hollywood Reporter.  The part of Roosevelt has not yet been announced.
