“West Side Story’s” Ariana DeBose, “Licorice Pizza’s” Alana Haim and “Belfast’s” Caitriona Balfe are among the actors who will receive the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Virtuosos Award this year. Festival organizers plan to give out the honors at an in-person event in the coastal California town on March 5.The eight actors singled out for the award include newcomers, like Saniyya Sidney who plays Venus Williams in “King Richard” and “CODA’s” Emilia Jones and Troy Kotsur, as well as more familiar faces, like Simon Rex (“Red Rocket”) and Jamie Dornan (“Belfast”).The event, hosted by TCM’s Dave Karger, will include discussions with the talent — which could be for some a stop on the road to the Oscars on March 27.

Jordan Moreau Robert Eggers, the director behind “The Witch” and “The Lighthouse” has released the first trailer for his latest movie, “The Northman,” starring Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawke and Björk.The film takes place in Iceland during the 10th century and follows a viking prince named Amleth, played by Skarsgard, who goes on a quest for vengeance after his father, King Horvendill (Hawke), is murdered.

The debut trailer for The Northman has just arrived online and is highlighting the film’s star-studded cast.

The New York Film Critics Circle anointed “Drive My Car” as the Best Film of 2021 and now the West Coast critics have had their say. After almost six hours of overall deliberations, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association also selected “Drive My Car” as their Best Film of the year with “The Power of the Dog” as runner-up.

The 27th annual Critics Choice Awards film category nominations have been announced.

Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast and Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story lead the list of nomination revealed Monday for the 27th annual Critics Choice Awards with 11 each. They are followed closely by Dune and The Power of the Dog, which both racked up 10 apiece.

Aquaman 2 has been completed, while its director has teased some more details about what to expect from the upcoming movie.The DC sequel will see Jason Momoa reprise his role as the titular hero, with the likes of Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also set to star in it.Momoa confirmed that filming was done in an Instagram post on Thursday (December 9).
