Scots Love Island winner Paige Turley has opened up about mental health struggles she faced after the ITV show.
Paige, 25, who won the first-ever series of Winter Love Island alongside boyfriend Finley Tapp in 2020, discussed spells of anxiety and low-mood after leaving the show. The West Lothian star, who famously dated Lewis Capaldi during their time in college, spoke to Will Njobvu about the realities of life after Love Island.
Broadcaster Will joined Paige and Finley at their luxurious Manchester apartment, as the trio discussed what life had been like for the couple after winning the £50k and being catapulted to national fame.
Paige replied: "I struggled with anxiety and low moods which I never thought I would. I was very strong minded before the show but afterwards, there are so many opinions around about you.
"You start to question and start to believe stuff. It does take you to a place where you're looking in the mirror and constantly questioning yourself - and that I struggled with for a while."
The Scots star admitted during the documentary that she considered walking away from life in the public eye after finding it difficult to cope.
When Will asks her why, she replied: "I think it just got to the point where I no longer recognised who I was. I was like 'is this worth it?'
"It just got to the stage where I was like 'I don't know who I am, I'm a bag of nerves, is this the right thing for me?'"
In the same documentary, Love Island season two contestant Tom Powell spoke about the negative impact the show had on his ex-girlfriend Sophie Gradon's life. The pair met and coupled up on the show in 2016 and they went on to date for six months.
Sophie took her own life in June 2018 and was found at her home in Ponteland,
