Outlander author Diana Gabaldon has given hope to disappointed fans who are concerned the series may end after the seventh season.
The hit show based on Diana's book series, focussing on the time travelling love story between Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan, and Claire Fraser, played by Caitriona Balfe, is going into its seventh season. Fans are eagerly awaiting the on-screen adaptation to air its new episodes, after viewers waited almost two years between seasons five and six, which was coined 'Droughtlander'.
Sam, 42, recently confirmed that the seventh instalment isn't likely to air any time soon at as the 18 episode season will still be filming well into next year. The cast and crew are currently filming in Scotland, and have been spotted at different filming locations over the last few months.

Eager to know what's in store for their favourite series, speculation is rife about the future of the franchise and how it will end. The seventh season is set to follow the story of 'An Echo In The Bone', and Diana confronted the idea that it might even be the last.
One fan took to Twitter to share their disappointment about the show's potential ending, writing: " @SamHeughan Really upset when I read @Writer_DG said that season 7 may be the last season of Outlander. I’m really really really sad."
