Yesterday it was announced that Suicide Squad director James Gunn would be running a spinoff series for HBO Max, featuring John Cena reprising his role in Peacemaker. The new show will go into production after Gunn finishes his work on The Suicide Squad and before he begins filming on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.

John Cena has a new HBO Max series in the works!

Comic book fans can rejoice as “Suicide Squad” star, John Cena, is in line for his own streaming series. HBO Max announced on Wednesday that it has ordered a spinoff of the upcoming James Gunn film which features Cena, 43, as the “Peacemaker” from the pages of DC Comics supervillain team-up.The eight-episode series will skip shooting a pilot and proceed right to series production.

HBO has confirmed that a spinoff of the film Suicide Squad is being made as a series, titled Peacemaker. According to a report by Variety, the series will feature star John Cena, who will play the title role, reprising his role from the film.

James Gunn’s debut in the world of DC superhero filmmaking has yet to formally kick off, as “The Suicide Squad” isn’t going to be released until next August, but that doesn’t mean Warner Bros. isn’t psyched about what the filmmaker has been cooking up.

Of all of the actors in David Ayer’s 2016 superhero film, “Suicide Squad,” Joel Kinnaman is probably the one that got hammered the most by fans and critics.
