Italy has picked Notturno, an observational documentary by director Gianfranco Rosi (Fire at Sea) to be its 2021 Oscar contender in the best international feature category. Rosi shot Notturno over three years across Lebanon, Iraq, Kurdistan, and Syria.

Super LTD, Neon's boutique distribution division, has acquired the North American rights to Gianfranco Rosi’s documentary Notturno after a debut at Venice and play at the virtual Telluride, Toronto, New York film festivals. The film, shot over three years across Lebanon, Iraq, Kurdistan and Syria, was named by Italy to represent the country in the 2021 Oscar best international feature race.
