It is very rare for a married couple to be nominated for acting Oscars in the same year, but it has happened three times in the past.
Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander were both nominated for acting Oscars in 2016, but they didn’t get married until one year later, so they don’t make the cut for this list.
Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, who are both previous winners, have a chance at being added to this list this year. They’re in contention right now for their films Parallel Mothers and Being the Ricardos, respectively.
It has been many decades since the last time a married couple has been nominated for acting Oscars in the same year.
