Foo Fighters headlined the opening night of the new Washington D.C. venue The Atlantis and performed rare live track ‘New Way Home’ last night (May 30).The Atlantis – a new 450-person capacity replica venue of the original 9:30 Club – opened yesterday with the Foos taking the stage.According to Consequence of Sound, the band’s set began with frontman Dave Grohl reuniting with Pete Stahl, his old bandmate in the D.C.

He was 50 years old.

Foo Fighters have released ‘The Teacher’, the final single from their upcoming 11th album ‘But Here We Are’.The 10-minute-long track is the longest song the band have ever recorded, and sees Dave Grohl begin with an understated guitar intro, and ultimately build up to blaze of audio overload. It also references the passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins and Grohl’s mother, Virginia.Directed by multimedia artist Tony Oursler, the single’s accompanying video is a short film featuring emotive imagery and home videos from the band.The director came to Foo Fighters’ attention via his work with David Bowie – specifically his video for Bowie’s landmark January 2013 single ‘Where Are We Now?’.‘The Teacher’ follows the band’s previously released singles ‘Rescued’, ‘Under You’ and ‘Show Me How’.

Foo Fighters covered Nine Inch Nails’ ‘March Of The Pigs’ at their Sonic Temple festival set last night (May 28) – check it out below.Earlier this week (May 24), the band played their first full concert of 2023 in New Hampshire, going on to play shows at Boston Calling and at Ohio’s Sonic Temple festival.The gigs saw the band introduce newly-announced drummer Josh Freese, who took on the role following the passing of Hawkins last year, and at Sonic Temple they played a medley of songs from bands Freese has played with in order to introduce him to the world.One of these was ‘March Of The Pigs’, with Freese having previously played for Nine Inch Nails alongside the likes of Paramore and Weezer.Check out the cover below.At their Boston Calling set, Foo Fighters were joined on stage by late drummer Taylor Hawkins’ son Shane.The second gig of their comeback came on Friday night, where Shane joined them to perform ‘I’ll Stick Around’.

Foo Fighters have officially revealed their new drummer, who will take over from the late Taylor Hawkins. Josh Freese has joined Dave Grohl and the rest of the band ahead of the release of new album But Here We Are and an upcoming summer of live shows and festival appearances.

death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022.The band revealed in a livestream event that Josh Freese, 50, will be joining members Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee behind the drum set for their upcoming tour.In Sunday’s “Foo Fighters: Preparing Music for Concerts,” the Grammy-winning rock band showed a skit where they teased iconic drummers interrupting a session at Studio 606, including Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee and Tool’s Danny Carey.Smith came in complaining of a Mercedes blocking him, Lee arrived at the studio with takeout from P.F. Chang’s, and Carey came in to tell the band that he got their poodles groomed for them — but ultimately, the skit cuts to Freese.“Um, excuse me! Guys can we just, like, I don’t know, play a song or two, something?” an annoyed Freese says in the bit, revealing him as the drummer before rehearsing “All My Life.”It’s unclear if Freese will become a permanent member of Foo Fighters or is simply filling in as the band launches their tour.Foo Fighters officially have a new drummer !!
