It’s a surprise move given Snider’s high profile, her extensive relationships throughout the entertainment industry and the fact that she was prolific in getting projects off the ground during her nearly four years (many of them overlapping with the pandemic). But Snider will remain involved as a creative advisor to the company. As part of that arrangement, she will also serve as an independent producer and will remain in charge of the Los Angeles office’s TV and film slate. She will continue to be a shareholder in Sister. The change is effective immediately. Elisabeth Murdoch, who is also the company’s executive chair, will assume CEO duties on an interim basis until Sister hires someone to take over Snider’s operational role.

Amber Dowling Jennica Harper and Nela Handa are taking over showrunning duties on CBC’s “Run The Burbs” for the comedy’s third season. The show was renewed a week before the Season 2 finale in March for a planned winter 2024 broadcast. Harper and Handa are long-time collaborators, having worked together for three seasons on the Bell Media series “JANN” starring Jann Arden. Harper served as showrunner on all three seasons of the series, along with the 2022 holiday special. The Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Award winner’s other credits include “Spencer Sisters,” “Skymed” and “Cardinal.” Handa wrote on the first two seasons of “Run The Burbs” and also won a Peabody Award for her contribution to the first season of the CBC/Max series “Sort Of.” In 2021 she also won a Canadian Screen Award for best writing on “The Baroness Von Sketch Show.” In February, she was one of six participants named to the second year of CBC, BIPOC TV & Film and CFC’s Showrunner Catalyst Program.

A date has been set for Kevin Spacey’s high-profile UK trial on charges of sex offences.

K.J. Yossman Kevin Spacey appeared in a U.K. court via videolink on Friday morning local time as a judge confirmed the length and date of his criminal trial, which is set for this summer. According to U.K. media reports, the actor spoke only to confirm his full name, Kevin Spacey Fowler, and that he could hear the judge. Spacey’s legal representative, barrister Patrick Gibbs KC, attended the pre-trial hearing at Southwark Crown Court in South London in person. The purpose of the largely administrative hearing was to set the date and length of the trial. Judge Wall confirmed the trial will commence on June 28 and it is scheduled to last four weeks, London newspaper the Evening Standard reported.
