The long-running show was the first winner of the night, after scooping The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award. I'm a Celebrity's hosts Ant McPartlin, 47, and Declan Donelly, 46, were unable to accept the award due to them both being forced to stay at home after contracting Covid-19.
It fell to Danny Miller, best known for playing the role of Aaron Dingle in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale and being a former I'm a Celeb contestant, to accept the award. During his speech, he made a'swipe at Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway co-host Stephen Mulhern, 45.
Danny said: "Just on behalf of Ant and Dec, who unfortunately have Covid so they can't be here tonight. "Stephen Mulhern is in the crowd so I'm not sure why he hasn't accepted this award on behalf of them..." The camera cut to a very baffled-looking Stephen, who pulled a confused face.

Stephen Mulhern has admitted he has no plans on giving Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly their 21st National Television Award trophy, having accepted it on their behalf. Ant and Dec have won the award for best presenter at the NTAs for the past 21 years running, with nobody else managing to nab the award since 2001. However, the pair were unable to attend the event in person to collect their award at London’s Wembley Arena, after contracting Covid days before the event.
Strictly Come Dancing fans were left feeling emotional after Gorka Márquez sweetly reassured his celebrity partner Helen Skelton on tonight's show. Gorka, 32, and Helen, 39, performed an incredible Paso Doble which saw them win huge praise from judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood. After receiving their scores, host Claudia Winkleman began chatting to the pair and Gorka soon asked if she could quickly say something to his partner.
NTAs viewers were convinced that Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were booed by the crowd as they went on stage to collect their award.
The 2022 National Television Awards were definitely one to remember, with numerous memorable moments throughout the evening. Those who walked away with awards include Martin Lewis, Ant and Dec, Anton Du Beke and Cillian Murphy, with TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, Gogglebox and I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! also coming out on top.

Emmerdale, Strictly and the likes of Martin Lewis all won TV recognition and This Morning's Friday host Alison Hammond was up against Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for Best Presenter.
Danny Miller has both baffled ITV viewers and come under fire after he made an 'unnecessary' comment about Stephen Mulhern during the National Television Awards. The Emmerdale star got up on stage with his I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2021 cast mates when the series picked up an award.
