The trial of Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has been adjourned until at least Tuesday next week after one of the jurors tested positive for Covid.

Northern trains will now run as normal next week after unions chose to halt planned strike action.
The industrial action was planned for Thursday and Saturday next week (September 15 and 17) in an ongoing row over pay and conditions. However, following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the unions have decided to ‘suspend’ the strikes.
Following their decision, Northern Rail has confirmed that a normal, full timetable will run on all seven days next week. It also clarified that it will observe a period of mourning for the deceased Monarch.

A statement from the rail company, issued at 2pm on Friday (September 9), said: “Further to the announcement by the RMT and ASLEF trade unions that they have suspended planned strike action, Northern will now operate a normal timetable on all days next week.
“In line with the period of national mourning following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II, no further media communications - save for essential travel updates - will be issued until after the funeral.”
Commuters are being warned to check their journeys this weekend due to a yellow weather warning today.
