Actor Nicolas Cage is a father once again after his wife Riko Shibata welcomed their daughter into the world.The newborn is Nicolas' third child and Riko's first. Nicolas is already father to Kal-El, 16, and Weston, 31, from previous relationships. Nicolas, 58, and his fifth wife Riko, 27, confirmed the happy news as a representative told People: "Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter.
Mother and daughter are doing fine." The publication reports that the child is named August Francesca Coppola Cage, although the couple have yet to officially confirm this. Earlier this year, Nicolas talked baby names and revealed that he wished to honour his late father's name, which was August Coppola. In an interview with GQ in March, Nicolas discussed names for his then unborn child as he said: “Augie was my father's nickname.
And my uncle”—the director Francis Ford Coppola— “has decided to change his name to Francesco." He'd also said of a two-month ultrasound on his phone: “I think it's so sweet. It's like a little edamame. A little bean.” Nicolas confirmed in January that he and wife Riko were expecting their first child together, as a rep said at the time: "The parents-to-be are elated!" In April, he then went on to reveal that he and Riko were having a baby girl whilst he promoted his new film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent on The Kelly Clarkson show.
He said excitedly: "I'm gonna announce some big news for everyone," he said. "I am gonna have a little girl." Speaking on having a baby girl, he added: "I'm thrilled. It's going to be the biggest adventure of my life".
