Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will meet for the first time tomorrow since the MP entered Downing Street.
Sunak revealed the meeting, which will happen in Blackpool, during an exchange at Prime Minister’s Questions this lunchtime.
The SNP leader had a difficult relationship with ex-PM Boris Johnson and was snubbed by his successor Liz Truss who said she should be ignored.
But Sunak has attempted to have a more cordial relationship with the First Minister, despite their two governments disagreeing on indyref2.
He told MPs: "What the Secretary of State and I are jointly focused on is working constructively with the Scottish Government to deliver for the people of Scotland. I'll be pleased to be meeting the First Minister tomorrow, because that, I think, is what the people of Scotland want to see."
The British-Irish Council starts formally in Blackpool on Friday, with bilateral meetings taking place earlier on Thursday.
