A planning application has been lodged to build 29 new detached homes in Kilmarnock.
If successful, Muir Homes plans to build three, four and five bedroom developments in East Ayrshire.
The new builds will include harness solar panels for electricity generation, utilise high performance insulation and have 100 per cent low energy lighting throughout to help communities grow sustainably.
The land already has planning permission for 45 affordable homes, however, the new plans will see the site reduced to 29 private dwellings with attractive greenspace and landscaping to improve amenity and biodiversity.
By reducing the number of houses, Muir Homes is taking on board the feedback raised by locals during previous planning applications.
It also sees the removal of a pedestrian access link to Hestan Place which was discouraged by those living in the existing housing. These views were expressed to the council during the determination of the previous application.
Due to Southcraigs Dean Community Council not currently operating, Muir Homes has written directly to the Kilmarnock North ward councillors with details of the new plans.
As part of the development, there will be open space amenity areas and full landscaping throughout. The biodiversity and drainage of the land will be improved with a factor maintaining the development once the homes are occupied.
Nicola McCowan Hill, Land and Planning Manager at Muir Homes, said: “We are very excited about this project bringing 29 new detached homes to Kilmarnock.
"This area has been earmarked for housing by East Ayrshire Council to meet the local housing need and we would relish the opportunity to fulfil this.
“Of course, we want to ensure that the views of local residents are taken into
