Netflix Top 10: ‘The Sandman’ Leads with 128 Million Hours Watched, ‘Never Have I Ever’ Season 3 Takes No. 2 Position

Now she’s making a name for herself in Hollywood as well.  As if she didn’t have enough on her plate overseeing one of the most storied franchises in all of sports, she is plenty busy as well guiding multiple productions, including a new Hulu documentary on which she serves as executive producer, “Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers,” which premiered last month. In addition, she is about to relaunch beginning Sept. 17 the WOW: Women of Wrestling league — that she owned since 2011 as a syndicated property — both in the U.S. and abroad in partnership with Paramount. She’s also teamed up with Mindy Kaling on a scripted comedy in development at Netflix that offers a thinly veiled fictional version of her life as a team owner.

With 68.5 million hours watched, the limited series passed Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman,” which was watched for 53.8 million hours in the same period and had held the No. 1 position on the English-language series chart for the three weeks prior. “Me Time,” the comedy film starring Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg, debuted as the second-most-watched title of the week and the No. 1 movie. Racking up 59.2 million hours watched in its first three days of availability on the streamer, “Me Time” follows Sonny (Hart) as he reconnects with his best friend Huck (Wahlberg) for a wild weekend while his wife (Regina Hall) and kids are away.

Mark Wahlberg, 51, stopped by “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” on Thursday and explained that he’d already agreed to star in 43-year-old Hart’s Netflix buddy comedy “Me Time” when the comedian decided to expose his bare derriere. “He [Hart] came to me with [the movie] and John Hamberg and I said, ‘Absolutely,'” Wahlberg recalled.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo‘s remarkable run, which Deadline has chronicled for the last couple of weeks, continues. The latest Netflix hit from Korea has growing its viewership every week, from 24 million hours viewed in Week 1 to a new high mark of 77.43M hours viewed in its seventh week (8/15-8/21). It is a rare Netflix series that has increased its viewing in each of the first seven weeks.

With 77.4 million hours watched, the series was Netflix’s most-viewed title during the Aug. 15-21 viewing window — racking up more hours viewed than Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman,” which was the most-viewed title the previous two weeks. “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” follows Woo Young-woo (Park Eun-bin), a lawyer with autism, whose eidetic memory helps her succeed at a large law firm as she also navigates difficult social interactions. “The Sandman” still sits at the top on the English-language chart for the third consecutive week, garnering 77.2 million hours watched over the last week. This marks a drop from last week’s 127.5 million hours as the series has now had its second full week of availability on the platform. Its continued No. 1 status is partially due to “A Dream of a Thousand Cats”/”Calliope,” a bonus episode that Netflix released on Aug. 19.

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at LargeComedian Nick Kroll is returning to standup — and doing it via Netflix, the home of his animated comedy “Big Mouth.” Kroll’s first stand-up special in a decade — and his first for Netflix — is titled “Nick Kroll: Little Big Boy,” and will premiere globally on September 27.The special will air a month before the Season 6 return of “Big Mouth,” which returns Oct. 28. For “Little Big Boy,” Kroll shot the special in June at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C.“I could be wrong, but I don’t know if people think of me really as a stand up, because I’ve been doing sketch and animation and acting and the writing stuff,” said Kroll, who beyond “Big Mouth” and his voicework is perhaps best known for “The League” and “The Kroll Show,” as well as playing the geriatric Gil Faizon, opposite John Mulaney, in the “Oh, Hello” sketches that eventually turned into a Broadway show (also taped for Netflix).

Extraordinary Attorney Woo — a legal take on The Good Doctor (which also originated in Korea) with a female lead — has been growing every week, from 24M hours viewed in Week 1 to a new high mark of 67M hours viewed in its sixth week (8/8-8/14). This may be the first Netflix series to increase viewing in each of its first six weeks.

The excitement was palpable as hundreds of fans lined the streets around the theater and cheered on the arrival of the stars. “I feel like I’m at the Oscars,” Kaling told Variety.
