Netflix’s Viking drama series The Last Kingdom is a big hit!
Season 5 of the series premiered on March 9 on the streamer, following Uhtred of Bebbanburg’s (Alexander Dreymon) journey.

Season 5 is set to be the end of The Last Kingdom. Show producers have since confirmed that a Last Kingdom movie, called Seven Kings Must Die is now in production! Alexander Dreymon will return as Uhtred in the film.
A premiere date for the sequel film has not yet been announced, but Alexander has already confirmed that filming has begun, posting a video from his first day on set in Budapest, Hungary back in January of 2022.
The Last Kingdom series is based on The Saxon Stories novels by Bernard Cornwell. The first five seasons of the show covered the first ten books in the series. There are still three novels that haven’t been covered yet, and are expected to be in the film.
Producer Nigel Marchant revealed at MCM London Comic-Con that “although season five fully concludes the series, there was always one more story that we wanted to tell. With the brilliant support of Netflix and continued appetite from the fans to see more, we simply couldn’t resist one last journey with Uhtred.”
