Netflix's 'Cheer' returns after team's major highs and lows

NEW YORK -- When we last saw the cheerleading team from Navarro Community College on Netflix, it was in the final episode of the docuseries “ Cheer. ” They had just won the NCA National Championships in the junior college division and celebrated with a tradition where the champions run into the ocean.Then came the fame.

The main cast, including coach Monica Aldama, became overnight celebrities outside of the cheer community, where some of them were already known.

They appeared on talk shows including “Ellen,” posed for photo shoots and Aldama was a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars.”Gabi Butler, a sometimes-Navarro student who returns to compete with the squad and was already famous in the cheer world before the series debuted, says they were all surprised by the show's success.“No one really expected the show to be so big, and I think that kind of caught everybody off guard.

Vic Mensa was arrested at Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C., after he was allegedly found carrying drugs.The 28-year-old rapper was taken into custody after arriving on a flight from Ghana, US Customs and Border Protection officials said in a statement.The agency supplied a photo that allegedly depicted the substances Mensa was found with, which included LSD and psilocybin, commonly known as 'magic mushrooms.' Airport arrest: US Customs and Border Protections officials said Vic Mensa, 28, was arrested Saturday at Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C., on felony drug possession charges; seen in August in NYCCustoms officials wrote in their statement that the rapper was found with41 grams of liquid LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) in his luggage, along with six grams of psilocybin mushrooms,124 grams of the substance in capsule form and another178 grams of the drug in prepackaged gummies.Both substances are known as psychedelic drugs, and they can cause a sense of euphoria along with visual hallucinations. Agents allegedly discovered the drugs after Mensa was taken for a secondary set of screenings.Following the discovery, he was arrested on felony narcotic possession charges.Requests for comment from Mensa's representatives by DailyMail.com have not yet been returned.
