Netflix Acquires the Roald Dahl Story Company

As much as the “Blade Runner” franchise has proven to be a bit of box office poison, film fans have enjoyed both cyberpunk installments (well, depending on which version of Ridley Scott’s original film you’re talking about, of course).

Todd Spangler NY Digital EditorNetflix, still in the early innings of its video-game strategy, announced that it has acquired Night School Studio, a game developer best known for its critically acclaimed debut game, the supernatural mystery adventure title “Oxenfree.”It’s the first games-related acquisition for Netflix.

Netflix’s push for gaming is officially underway with the streaming giant acquiring indie gaming developer Night School Studios, most known for its debut title Oxenfree.

Mónica Marie Zorrilla Gina Atwater, best known for her work on “Westworld” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” has inked a multi-year overall deal with Netflix. Atwater will create, produce, direct and write new prestige series and other projects at Netflix that put traditionally underrepresented characters at the forefront of the narrative.
