It's almost been a week since Neighbours fans were forced to say an emotional goodbye to the soap after 37 years on-screen. The Australian favourite was taken off air last Friday (July 29) following a special finale episode which was full of familiar faces returning to Ramsay Street for one last time.

Three million British viewers tuned in to the final episode of Australian soap Neighbours, waving off a TV stalwart after 37 years. The double-episode special drew this peak audience as the show drew to a close, according to overnight figures, with an average audience of 2.5million.

Viewers of Neighbours were left in tears as they watched the final episode of the soap. It was announced in February that Channel 5 would drop the long-running soap from its line-up and doubts were quickly cast over whether the show's producers Fremantle Media would be able to secure a replacement broadcaster.
