There were almost 40,000 coronavirus deaths in care homes in the first year of the pandemic - and Greater Manchester was among the worst-hit areas.
New data released by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) shows for the first time the true scale of the tragedy in care homes when the Covid-19 virus arrived in England.
Around half of the deaths came in the 'first wave' of infections between April and July.
