The Peabody Awards said Thursday that Lily Tomlin has won the Peabody Career Achievement Award, and Issa Rae the Peabody Trailblazer Award. The honors will be bestowed during a ceremony for the 83rd annual Peabody Awards on June 11 in Los Angeles.

After achieving the biggest opening weekend of the year, “Mario Bros.” actually added 28 more locations in its sophomore outing. The Universal, Illumination and Nintendo co-production is now projecting an $80 million gross for the three-day frame, which would mark an impressive 45% drop from its $146 million opening weekend. e. On Friday, “Super Mario Bros.” crossed the $500 million mark globally. The film is now the highest-grossing release of 2023 so far and the biggest video game adaptation in history.

Jamie Foxx continues to recover as LeBron James and other stars send him thoughts and prayers online. Foxx experienced an undisclosed health scare Tuesday. "Sending my thoughts and prayers to the heavens above to my brother @iamjamiefoxx!!!! Get well and back to yourself SOONER THAN LATER! God willing," the NBA star shared on Twitter.

As a comedian, musician, actor, filmmaker and father, Jamie Foxx is beyond a triple threat.  The 55-year-old actor earned top industry accolades and won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the 2004 film "Ray," but Foxx has been performing nearly his entire life.  His daughter, Corinne Foxx, revealed Wednesday that Foxx suffered a "medical complication" the day before, and "quick action and great care" helped guide him toward recovery. His family has not disclosed Foxx's medical issue.

The 71-year-old morning news program was selected by the Peabody Board of Jurors for this year’s honor, which “recognizes institutions and organizations, as well as series and programs, for their enduring body of work and their iconic impact on both the media landscape and the public imagination.”  “For nearly three quarters of a century, ‘Today’ has been a morning staple for millions of Americans and a consistent cultural touchstone for deeply moving human stories, groundbreaking news, and daily joy,” Peabody executive director Jeffrey Jones said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to recognize the program, not only for their decades of stellar reporting and storytelling, but also for their undeniable impact on culture and an informed public.”
