Napoli manager Lucciano Spalletti has stated that Victor Osimhen will not leave the club for Manchester United this summer as he 'wants to play Champions League football'.
The Nigerian has been in fine goal scoring form in the past two seasons, and many have dubbed him an ideal Premier League striker due to his prolific goal record and outstanding pace. The 23-year-old has long been linked to United, however, it looks to be the case that he will remain in Italy for at least one more year, despite recent reports.
It has emerged in recent days that Napoli are interested in a late move for wantaway superstar Cristiano Ronaldo — who has struggled to find any suitors this summer — in a possible swap deal. The MEN reported that Napoli have held discussions with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

However, even if that is to be the case, Osimhen will not be coming the other way, according to Spalletti.
Speaking to DAZN, he said: “Osimhen gave his response, via his agent, saying he wants to play the Champions League and he wants to play it with this squad. He cares about his teammates, he chases down opposition players to help out and is a very strong focal point in attack. Having him at our disposal with that mentality is the best we could ask for."
