Fans reported a “10-minute punch-up” soon after the start of the Mrs Brown's Boys' D'Tour live performance on Saturday night. The Irish comedian has admitted he stopped the gig for a brief period but he didn’t know it was because of a fight in the crowd.
A spokesperson for the star said he’d thought it was a “medical emergency” that caused the drama, and he hadn’t realised it was an altercation in the crowd. Security swooped in when the show paused and dealt with the situation which meant the spin-off show from the hit BBC One comedy, which is filmed in Glasgow, could go on as planned, as reports the Irish Mirror.
A spokesman for the Dublin comic said: “There were 7,000 people there, he didn’t notice any brawl. He did stop for what he understood was a medical emergency.”
After the show, one fan wrote at the MBB Facebook webpage, "Don't know what was funnier the actual performance or the fact the show stopped whilst the fight was happening in the crowd.
Another said they "thought it was part of the show." "Great show, except from the `extras' that had to be heard in the audience," wrote another.
And another said: "Someone was fighting lol and then one behind me was very loud and drunk. Ended up crying. But the security were fantastic and took her outside until she calmed down and got back in lol."
