A mountain biker with a suspected fractured ankle sparked a three-hour rescue operation near Loch Lomond.
The motorist had been riding through the rocky area of the Whangie on Auchinden Hill when they got into difficulty. Teams from Lomond Mountain Rescue descended to the scene after receiving the alarm at 3.59pm yesterday.
On arrival, it emerged the biker had injured their ankle on very rough ground. The casualty was given pain relief and stretchered down the bill by the crew before being handed over to ambulance crews.
Images from the three and a half hour-long rescue operation shows teams carrying the biker through the dark hills to safety.
A statement from Lomond Mountain Rescue reads: "A busy week continued. At 3.59pm, Lomond MRT were called to a casualty with a suspected fractured ankle on very rough ground below the area of the Whangie on Auchinden Hill.
"Following the initial assessment, and packaging, pain relief was administered for the challenging stretcher off the hill to hand over to Scottish Ambulance Service. All at Lomond MRT wish the casualty all the best for a strong and full recovery.
"The Stand Down was issued at 7.25pm."
