'Monk' Revival Movie to Reunite Tony Shalhoub With Original Cast

Like “Lamborghini,” the Maserati origins movie is being produced by Andrea Iervolino’s ILBE Group, in which he is partnered with Monika Bacardi. ILBE has taken a liking for films about Italy’s iconic automakers. They are also among producers of Micheal Mann’s upcoming “Ferrari” with Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley.

In recent weeks, the couple have faced a vast amount of speculation about the future of their 11-year marriage. The couple were married in 2011, and will celebrate their 12th anniversary in July this year.

Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent U.S.-Lebanese actor Tony Shalhoub, who played the “defective detective” on “Monk,” is set to star as former auto mogul-turned-fugitive Carlos Ghosn in a high-profile TV series directed by Michael Winterbottom. Ghosn is the French-Lebanese-Brazilian former CEO of automakers Nissan and Renault who in 2020 jumped bail and absconded to Beirut hidden in a music case on a private jet while on trial in Japan for alleged financial misconduct. Lebanon does not have an extradition treaty with Japan. The six-part series titled “Fall of the God of Cars” is written by Winterbottom, the prolific British director of “Welcome to Sarajevo,” whose TV work comprises hit sitcom series “The Trip” and, more recently, “This is England” starring Kenneth Branagh as Boris Johnson.

A dramatization of the life of Carlos Ghosn, the former Nissan/Renault CEO who escaped from arrest hidden in a music case, is in the works from Oscar-winner Alfonso Cuarón and This England’s Michael Winterbottom.

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco have denied “malicious rumours” that they are to split after almost 12 years of marriage. The royal couple met at the Mare Nostrum swimming competition in 2000 and married eleven years later in July 2011. Charlene, a 45-year-old former Olympic swimmer, was away from Monaco for most of 2021 as she was being treated for a mystery illness in her native South Africa.

Paul Mitchell has confirmed he is to step down from his role as Monaco sporting director, with the Englishman having previously been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Netflix is bringing back the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” cast for a 30th anniversary special, titled “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always,” premiering April 19. The Netflix special features many of original, beloved heroes, including the Blue Ranger Billy Cranston (David Yost), the first Black Ranger Zack Taylor (Walter E. Jones) and Barbara Goodson, the voice of villain Rita Repulsa. It also includes Catherine Sutherland, the second Pink Ranger; Steve Cardenas, the second Red Ranger; Karan Ashley, the second Yellow Ranger; and Johnny Yong Bosch, the second Black Ranger. In the special, the Rangers reunite to fight Rita Repulsa, who is revealed to have killed Trini, the original Yellow Power Ranger.

The American Film Market will be moving to a new home for this year’s edition, setting up shop at Santa Monica’s Le Méridien Delfina Hotel on Pico Blvd. The shift slightly to the south east comes as the Loews Hotel, where the AFM has been staged for 30 years, closed for lengthy renovations earlier this month. The AFM runs from October 31-November 5.

A Monk reunion is officially happening!

“Monk” is returning to the airwaves, but this time as a movie.

Manchester United star Amad has been recalled to the Ivory Coast squad ahead of the upcoming international break later this month.

Tony Shalhoub and a number of original “Monk” cast members are reuniting for the Peacock original movie “Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie,” Peacock announced on Wednesday.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter The Defective Detective is back! Peacock has ordered a “Monk” reunion film with the original series stars and creators returning, Variety has learned. Tony Shalhoub will once again star as Adrian Monk, the consulting detective who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder and a wide range of phobias. Other returning cast members are Ted Levine as Leland Stottlemeyer, Traylor Howard as Natalie Teeger, Jason Gray-Stanford as Randy Disher, Melora Hardin as Trudy Monk, and Hector Elizondo as Dr. Neven Bell. Officially titled “Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie,” the film sees Monk return to solve one last and “very personal case involving his beloved step-daughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding,” per the official logline.

A Monk followup movie will be coming to Peacock. The NBCU streamer has ordered Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, starring Tony Shalhoub in a reprisal of his titular role from the USA series, along with original series cast members Ted Levine (On Becoming a God in Central Florida), Traylor Howard (Boston Common), Jason Gray-Stanford (Percy Jackson and The Olympians), Melora Hardin (The Office) and Hector Elizondo (Pretty Woman). The project hails from the original series creative team including creator, executive producer and writer Andy Breckman, executive producer David Hoberman, executive producer/director Randy Zisk. The studio behind the movie is UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Prince Albert II of Monaco said he’s been told to be "available" to be kidnapped by his precocious 8-year-old twins for his 65th birthday celebration this week.  "It's going to be very subdued," the only son of late Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace told People magazine of the hoopla earlier this week. "We'll have a little family lunch on Tuesday.
