Mohamed Salah was forced to apologise to Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk after he omitted him from his dream 5-a-side team in favour of Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo.
Salah was speaking ahead of Liverpool's Champions League final with Real Madrid in Paris on Saturday night. Jurgen Klopp's men were 90 minutes away from adding the Champions League trophy to the FA Cup and Carabao Cup they won earlier in the season, though Vinicius Jr's second-half strike proved to be the difference as Los Blancos notched their 14th European crown.
Four of Real's 14 titles were won with Ronaldo spearheading their attack, and Salah refused to ignore the Portuguese ace when Rio Ferdinand asked him to name his dream 5-a-side team. However, the inclusion of Ronaldo came at a cost, with Salah forced to apologise to Van Dijk.

"I'll go for Trent [Alexander-Arnold] because I love Trent," he said. "[Kylian] Mbappe, myself... sorry Virgil, no defenders. I'll take [Lionel] Messi and Ronaldo."
Clearly keen to adopt a 'we'll score more than you' approach, Salah's refusal to include Van Dijk is perhaps not as concerning as his refusal to pick a goalkeeper. Ferdinand went on to ask Salah who he believed to be the best player in the world, to which he replied: "If I don't pick myself I'll pick [Karim] Benzema and Mbappe."
