Variety writes that the special will begin filming later this year in Atlanta, with more details to follow.
The news comes a month after Mo’Nique settled her race and gender discrimination lawsuit with the streamer. In a November 2019 filing, she claimed that Netflix broke the law with their initial offer for her comedy special in 2018, alleging she was offered only $500,000 while Amy Schumer was offered $11 million and Dave Chappelle was offered $20 million.
Mo’Nique‘s reconciliation with Lee Daniels is also a relatively new development, with the pair publicly making amends a few months ago after being embroiled in a feud for years.
