Former Manchester United director Michael Knighton has reacted with joy to Sir Jim Ratcliffe's interest in buying the Old Trafford club.
On Wednesday Ratcliffe announced, through a spokesperson, his interest in buying United from the Glazers. "If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer," they told The Times.
"If something like this was possible, we would be interested in talking with a view to long-term ownership. This is not about the money that has been spent or not spent.

"Jim is looking at what can be done now and, knowing how important the club is to the city, it feels like the time is right for a reset."
Before Ratcliffe announced his desire to buy United, Knighton had claimed that he and a consortium were coming together to try and purchase the club. That was never believed to be a realistic prospect, but he was delighted to hear the news about Ratcliffe.
Knighton wrote on Twitter: "Sir Jim Ratcliffe - yes, yes, yes, yes this is wonderful news. I said from day one that the Glazers will be gone this time and the great JR is the man to it and it's happened.
"Thank you to every fan that believed this message, your support has been magnificent. Bravo."
