Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Grammy and Oscar winning singer-songwriter Sam Smith has announced their fourth studio album, “Gloria,” will be released on January 27, 2023 via Capitol Records. Made with longtime collaborators Jimmy Napes, Stargate and Max Martin stablemate Ilya, the album is described in the announcement as “not only a creative revelation but something of a personal revolution for the celebrated artist. Lyrically, the subjects dive deep and wide, into contemporary narratives around sex, lies, passion, self-expression and imperfection.” Smith says, “It feels like emotional, sexual and spiritual liberation. It was beautiful, with this album, to sing freely again. Oddly, it feels like my first-ever record. And it feels like a coming of age.”

Melody’s Echo Chamber has reissued her self-titled debut for its 10th anniversary, as well as announcing details of a world tour for 2023.The reissue was simultaneously released today alongside ‘Unfold’– a compilation of seven rare and previously unreleased tracks. One of these songs, ‘Norfolk Hotel’, is accompanied by a music video, which you can watch below.“I think this song soundtracks the metamorphosis experience, those spellbound waves and rhythm shifts,” Melody Prochet said.
“I guess the finale’s crumble kind of predicted the future ruin field. The music naturally recorded as a live duo, as I was just blossoming into my own intuitive guitar playing.
A very joyful and endlessly inspiring playground of musical memories.” ‘Norfolk Hotel’, as well as the other tracks from ‘Unfold’, were initially recorded in 2013. Prochet had been working on them with her then-partner, Tame Impala‘s Kevin Parker, who had also recorded and co-produced ‘Melody’s Echo Chamber’.They were supposed to form part of her second album, but after the couple broke up midway through the album’s creation process, they were abandoned.
“I tried to work on it on my own for a couple of years, until I realised I was really hurting myself doing that,” continued Prochet.The reissue of ‘Melody’s Echo Chamber’ has been accompanied by the announcement of a four-date tour for early 2023, during which she will play her first live show in London, at Scala, since 2013. David Bowie‘s fourth studio album, ‘Hunky Dory’, will be released as a deluxe reissue that will include unreleased home demos, live recordings and other rarities from that era.‘Divine Symmetry (An Alternate Journey Through Hunky Dory)’ is set to arrive on November 25 via Parlophone and will, across four CDs, feature 48 previously unreleased tracks and demos taken from the 12 months leading up to the release of ‘Hunky Dory’ in 1971.The first CD of the collection contains home and hotel room demos of songs that would end up on ‘Hunky Dory’, along with unreleased songs like ‘King Of The City’, ‘Right On Mother’, ‘How Lucky You Are (Miss Peculiar)’ and ‘Tired Of My Life’.Other discs include Bowie’s 1971 John Peel live session, BBC radio recordings, live cuts, the ‘BOWPROMO’ EP, B-sides, alternate versions of ‘Hunky Dory’ tracks and more. Bteam Pictures Acquires Spanish Rights to San Sebastián Competition Title ‘Kings of the World’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Liza Foreman Spanish production and distribution company Bteam Pictures has picked up all rights for Spain to San Sebastián competition title “Los Reyes del Mundo” (“Kings of the World”). Film Factory Entertainment brokered the deal with Bteam partners Ania Jones, Alex Lafuente and Lara Pérez Camiña. Film Factory’s Vicente Canales confirmed to Variety that the company is handling worldwide sales for the film, excluding France, Benelux, Colombia and Mexico. “Bteam is well known for distributing quality films in Spain and has already released several of our Spanish pictures,” said Canales. “We believe they are the best match for ‘Kings of the World,’ which is one of the most important Colombian films of the year.”
