Just before leaving to go and film Yellowjackets, Melanie said that a friend had told her that Jason wouldn’t be allowed in Canada, where the show was filmed, unless they were married.
“I got married cause someone was like, Jason, won’t get into Canada unless you’re married, which just wasn’t true,” she says. “I panicked.”
Melanie‘s reaction to what her friend had told her was “‘We have a child. What? I can’t leave for six months.’ So I was like, ‘We have to get married tomorrow.’”
That’s exactly how it happened too.
“We got married on our front porch of our little rental house in Atlanta. A nice lady came and married us. We had two friends there,” she recalled. “[Singer] Ellie Ann and William Jackson Harper were the two friends. Those were our two friends at our wedding and they were great, and they brought a cake and flowers and everything we needed.”
Melanie added that even though what her friend told her was wrong, “It was actually a very fun wedding day.”
Melanie and Jason got engaged in 2017, and in 2019, welcomed their first child together.
