The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations have seen Prince Harry and Meghan Markle return to the UK since they moved to the US last year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined members of the Royal Family at a special Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on Friday.The event was Harry and Meghan’s first official engagement since they quit as senior royals in 2020. Queen Elizabeth will begin her Platinum Jubilee celebrations on Thursday morning with the Trooping the Colour parade to mark her 96th birthday, an annual event which has been postponed the last two years due to the coronavirus.  Elizabeth became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee earlier this year following 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, Realms and the Commonwealth.  After a grand military display including horses, carriages, a flypast from the Royal Air Force and hundreds of musicians parading down The Mall to Horse Guard’s Palace, the queen is expected to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony to greet the public.  Historically, the British monarch has taken the salute to her troops, known as the Household Division on Horse Guards Parade.  Queen Elizabeth II is photographed at Sandringham House to mark the start of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee Year, on February 2, 2022 in Sandringham, Norfolk. All eyes will be on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they travel across the pond for the queen’s Platinum Jubilee. In May, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed that they’ll be heading to the UK with their son Archie and daughter Lilibet for the celebrations.The trip will mark the first time Lilibet, who was born in California a year ago, is in her father’s homeland. She will likely even celebrate her first birthday — June 4 — during the voyage.
