is moving forward with production following executive producer Mike Richards stepping down as host on Friday, less than a month after he was announced as the late Alex Trebek's successor.Richards stepped down after receiving backlash for sexist comments he made in the past, as well as taking on the hosting gig given that he's already executive producer of the show. He resigned as host on Friday, and said that moving forward as host would be too much of a distraction for fans.

Mike Richards was spotted out and about for the first time since he stepped down as the new permanent host of "Jeopardy!"  Last week, the executive producer announced that he will not be taking the permanent role as the replacement for Alex Trebek after past inappropriate comments he made about women and others on a podcast resurfaced.  Richards was spotted walking around his neighborhood in Burbank, Calif.

recently booted Mike Richards this week, Sony announced this afternoon.Bialik, who was already slated to host primetime spinoffs and specials for the show, is now scheduled to tape three weeks’ worth of programs — 15 episodes total — when “Jeopardy!” resumes production this week, according to Sony, which added that the iconic game show will also be announcing “additional guest hosts” for its current season.

Mayim Bialik, who earlier this month was announced as host of the Jeopardy! primetime and spinoff series, will fill in as host of the mothership syndicated program following the abrupt exit of Mike Richards as host after one day of tapings. (He remains an executive producer of the franchise.)

For the time being, Mayim Bialik is set to take over as host of Jeopardy.
