Dancing On Ice star Matt Richardson has been rushed to hospital after suffering a brain infection.The comedian and presenter, who appeared on the popular ITV ice skating show last year, took to Instagram on Friday to share the terrifying impact of his sudden illness as he revealed it was causing him significant memory loss. In the heartbreaking post, Matt revealed that he "can't remember" going to a recent concert with his brother, despite it taking place just a week ago.
Announcing the news of his hospitalisation, Matt wrote on Instagram: "My brother and I went to see Green Day in Dublin last week. "And I sadly can’t remember it as I’ve had a lovely infection which caused some wonderful swelling around my brain the last few days.
"After a really cool trip to hospital I’m trying to piece it all together again." Rather than let himself be defeated by the illness, Matt used his trademark humour to put a positive spin on the situation, as he quipped: "Hopefully the memories come back but if I owe you money, sorry you’re on your own x." Following the trip, which had seen Matt and his brother attend a concert as part of Green Day’s HellaMegaTour, the former Xtra Factor presenter’s brother also shared photos of the pair together on his Twitter and wrote: "Had a brilliant few days away in Dublin with @MattRichardson3 to see @HellaMegaTour with @GreenDay @falloutboy @Weezer.” The 31 year old funnyman will be a familiar face to many TV fans, after he starred in the 2021 series of Dancing on Ice, stepping in as a replacement for Rufus Hound when he tested positive for Covid and was forced to withdraw from the competition.
