Matt Goss has been announced as the latest celebrity to join BBC's Strictly Come Dancing for when it returns to our screens in September. Matt, 53, who is best-known as the lead singer of 1980s pop group Bros, will join the likes of former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh, Loose Women's Kaye Adams and Paralympian Ellie Simmonds.The eighth celebrity to be announced, Matt was revealed as the next contestant to be going on Strictly by Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle on This Morning.The pair are some of the guest presenters filling in on the show for regular faces Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary. Matt, who was dressed in a lime green suit and wide-brimmed hat, was announced in dramatic fashion on the show as he came out from behind a screen as confetti rained down over his head.
Matt told hosts Josie and Craig: “I’m excited, I’m nervous. You have the conversation and then you go about your day and you think, ‘I’ve got to dance.’ I’m eating everything that’s favourable to Spandex. I’ve got to make sure it’s alright, I’m excited.” He added, “I’ve been almost reclusive.
I come in [to the country], I work and go back to America. I just thought, ‘You know what, it’s time for me to come home, just do something completely out of my comfort zone' … I’m quite shy off stage. I just have to face all those demons and just learn.” He will have to get on his dancing shoes to impress judges Motsi Mabuse, 41, Shirley Ballas, 61, and Craig Revel Horwood, 57, as well as Anton Du Beke, 56, who will be a permanent judge this series.
