Martine McCutheon has revealed she and her husband will be renewing their wedding vows after their original big day took a terrifying turn. The Love Actually actress, 46, tied the knot with Jack McManus in Lake Como in 2012 but, the ceremony was ruined by uninvited guests as the mafia showed up and demanded money from the couple. Martine and Jack appeared on the Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show, discussing the "scary exchange" after the group made a series of financial demands for their big day to be able to go ahead.
Jack said: "We were like, ‘We’d love fireworks’ and they were like, ‘Yeah, you need to make a donation to the lake’. "It’s a donation, like to the mafia. We had to pay them so many hidden costs. This wasn’t hundreds, it was thousands." In the interview Jack appeared to suggest that the mafia's visits were a regular occurrence with their last coming on the big day itself.
He said: "The very last one and complete p**s take was on the day, they found out that we were going to put these pictures in a magazine, so they said, ‘You’re going to need to make a donation to the lake’. We just said no." Martine added: "I went, ‘Oh my god, there’s going to be a dead horse’s head in our bed!’. I was petrified.
"I was like, 'don’t stand your ground now, Jack please be quiet’. But he wouldn’t make another donation." Thankfully, the situation didn't progress and that was the end of it. The father-of-one explained: "They sort of let us off because we didn’t have to pay a donation for the magazine.
