Manuel Akanji believes that Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland can continue scoring goals at a remarkable rate throughout the season.

John Stones dragged Pep Guardiola's side level with a thunderbolt from 25 yards before Haaland struck. The Norwegian has a remarkable 13 goals in just eight games since moving to the Etihad and Akanji thinks he could maintain that ratio.

"I’m not surprised. I think he can keep going like this," the centre-back said. "He just needs to work hard, keep his head down and work every day. At this point I think he can score any type of goal. I'm not surprised anymore what he can do. What a cross also from Joao and obviously he is there where he needs to be and it was a fantastic goal.
"It's still a team sport. It's not only about Erling. Obviously he is really important for us, he scores a lot of goals, but it takes a whole team to win the game, and also a team when you lose the game. We have to do it all together and when he keeps on scoring these goals we are happy."
The victory puts City in a strong position in Group G. They're three points clear at the top of the group with a double-header against FC Copenhagen to come, from which six points would see them safely through to the knockout stages.
